Phi Mu Alpha Composition Contest

Sinfonia’s support of new compositions goes back nearly to its origins. The first Phi Mu Alpha Composition Contest was held in 1912.

At the 2012 National Convention, a century after the first contest was held, a new contest was announced. The Composition Contest features a $5,000 Grand Prize, and the chance to have your work premiered at the 2015 National Convention! The contest is not restricted to initiated Brothers in Phi Mu Alpha, but is open to all interested composers, who are encouraged to enter. For full details on the contest, including detailed entry stipulations, click here

The deadline for all submissions is July 1, 2014.

Share Your Composition Stories

The upcoming issue of the Sinfonian magazine will feature a number of articles about Sinfonian composers. If you are a composer, we’d love to hear about you. What is your most recent endeavor? Next project? Upcoming events featuring your works? If you would like to recommend Sinfonian composers for inclusion in the Composition issue, please forward those recommendations to us. We want to highlight the many musical accomplishments of our members, and your input can help us to do that.

All updates and submissions should be sent to editor@sinfonia.org. Longer articles will be considered on an individual basis.
